Now, I am not one to write on politics very often, but this time, this blog on artsy things shall be my voice against TTIP. Hopefully, some of you are aware, if not, I shall inform you, because this is why I care.
Like a Trojan horse the trade treaty between the United States of America known as TTIP or the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership has been brought into the European gates, with promises of economic advantages and job opportunities and supposedly it's for our best interests.
But this deal is being done quietly and negotiations end at the end of 2015, while most of the people are unaware of the meaning of the trade treaty (Not a very democratic thing, to not inform your people). In the meantime, there is some more media attention to the consequences this deal might bring now, even though little people know what is being negotiated. Some things we have heard mean food safety, animal rights and protection won't have to 'hold back' deals for traders. At the same time corporations can influence laws that profit their investments and can even legally sue the governments for any laws that hinder their profits.
All this might also affect the whole well-being of the world, and let’s be honest; the world could use some less negative affecting and a little more loving.
All this so some rich folks can get richer.
(How money is more important than the planet is beyond my understanding in general, I think we should feed the 1% to the polar bears and support the right causes with their money, fighting injustice, environmental problems and such all at once. What can I say, I'm a problem solver)
I would like to be part of bringing some causes against TTIP to the public attention, all in the best interest of us and generations to come.
We might not be the ones with the money or the power, but together we have a voice, and I strongly believe we can make the planet a better place.
